Sirathu is one of the Assembly seats of the Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh and also part of the Kaushambi Lok Sabha constituency. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from the Sirathu Assembly constituency. Maurya had won the seat in 2012. Sheetla Prasad is the sitting MLA from this Assembly seat. The seat is considered to be a stronghold of the BJP as the party’s Vinod Kumar Sonkar is the sitting MP from Kaushambi parliamentary seat. The SP has decided to field Anupriya Patel’s sister Pallavi Patel from this seat to challenge Maurya. This is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for SCs or STs. The voting is scheduled in the fifth phase i.e. on February 27, 2022.
