Raipur is one of the Assembly constituencies of the Dehradun district in Uttarakhand. There were a total of 1,64,986 voters in the Raipur constituency during the 2017 Assembly elections. This year, the voting is scheduled to be held in a single phase in Uttarakhand i.e. on February 14, 2022. In 2017, Bharatiya Janata Party's Umesh Sharma Kau had won the seat. The BJP has again fielded him from the seat. Kau is known as a supporter of Harak Singh Rawat but decided to remain in the party even after Rawat's ouster from the BJP. The Raipur Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) or Scheduled Tribes (STs). It must be noted that this Assembly seat falls under the Tehri Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by BJP's Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah.
