Khanpur is one of the Assembly constituencies of the Haridwar district in Uttarakhand. There were a total of 1,35,612 voters in the Khanpur constituency during the 2017 Assembly elections. This year, the voting is scheduled to be held in a single phase in Uttarakhand i.e. on February 14, 2022. The sitting MLA Kunwar Parnav Singh Champion of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat by 13,735 votes over Mufti Riyasat Ali of the Bahujan Samaj Party in 2017. However, this time the BJP has fielded his wife Kunwarani Devyani from the seat. The Khanpur Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) or Scheduled Tribes (STs). It must be noted that this Assembly seat falls under the Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by former Uttarakhand CM and former Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
