Haridwar Rural is one of the Assembly constituencies of the Haridwar district in Uttarakhand. There were a total of 1,20,195 voters in the Haridwar constituency during the 2017 Assembly elections. This year, the voting is scheduled to be held in a single phase in Uttarakhand i.e. on February 14, 2022. In 2017, Bharatiya Janata Party's Yatishwaranand had won the seat. He had defeated senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat with a margin of 12,278. The BJP has again fielded him from the seat. Anupama Rawat, the daughter of Harish Rawat, has been fielded by the Congress party this time to avenge her father's loss. The Haridwar Rural Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) or Scheduled Tribes (STs). It must be noted that this Assembly seat falls under the Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by former Uttarakhand CM and former Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
