Vijay Inder Singla is a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Sangrur. He is a member of the Punjab government's current council of ministers and is also in charge of the public works department and administrative reforms. He was elected to the Punjab Assembly in 2017 after winning the Sangrur constituency by a margin of over 30,000 votes. From 2009 to 2014, he served as a Congress Member of Parliament from Sangrur (Lok Sabha constituency) in Punjab. Singla defeated Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, the Akali stalwart. He is well-known for his charitable efforts and passion for social service. He was regarded as one of the best parliamentarians during the previous UPA administration. His father, Sant Ram Singla, was a Congress MP who was known for his charitable efforts for the welfare of people and served as a minister during Captain Amarinder Singh's first term in office. He is again contesting the elections from the Sangrur Assembly segment.
