Parminder Singh Dhindsa is the sitting MLA from the Lehra Assembly constituency. He is a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt). He was a Shiromani Akali Dal member until late 2019 when he resigned due to his differences with the party leadership. He represented the Sunam Assembly constituency in 2000 (bypoll), 2002, 2007 and 2012. He was also made Finance Minister in the Parkash Singh Badal government. In the 2017 Assembly polls, Dhindsa defeated former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress stalwart Rajinder Kaur Bhattal with a margin of 26,815 votes (19.40% of total valid votes). He is contesting from the Lehra constituency again in the 2022 Assembly elections. He has been pitted against Rajinder Kaur Bhattal once again. He is the son of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
