England
Bowler
Right-arm fast medium 26 yrs.

After coming to Durham via the academy system, Matthew James Potts - a right-arm fast bowler and more than capable batter wore the England U-19 jersey. When Potts faced Kent on his first-class debut, he was granted a field of nine slips and quickly became an overnight sensation.

After playing for the Under-19 team in 2017, the Durham native signed a three-year contract with the local county. In the 2018 Royal London One-Day Cup, he made his List A debut for Durham. The following season, he was awarded a T20 cap and played in the T20 Blast against Northamptonshire.

Potts made a name for himself for Durham in the red-ball format over the course of three seasons, but he didn't appreciate success in the shorter formats until 2020. Throughout the season, the pacer's unmatched accomplishments attracted a lot of attention.

The right-arm quick, who averaged 18.07 and took 13 wickets in 10 games, was named Durham's co-leading wicket-taker in the Blast. Afterwards, won T20 Blast Player of the Year for Durham. Despite being in excellent form during the season, Potts gained the most attention following his performance against Yorkshire, where he amassed 3/14 from 3 overs and claimed Dawid Malan for a golden duck.

In 2022, the gifted runner was selected in the first round of the Hundred draft by the Northern Superchargers. Potts picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket against Leicestershire. His performances earned him a well-deserved Test debut against New Zealand, where he picked up 7 wickets in the match, helping his side to a win. Potts also played his first ODI in the same year against South Africa. With England having plenty of quality fast bowlers, Potts found it difficult to cement his place in the team but has delivered whenever given the chance.
