Ponda is one of the Assembly constituencies of the North Goa district in Goa. On the other hand, it is one of the Assembly seats that are part of the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2017 Assembly elections, the Congress party's Ravi S Naik had won the seat. The former Chief Minister is fighting from the BJP’s ticket in the 2022 Assembly elections. Traditionally, there has been a fight between the Congress party and the MGP. The seat will go to the polls on February 14, 2022. The Ponda Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for SCs or STs.
