Navi Mumbai: After the tragic death of a lawyer in Navi Mumbai due to a bogus doctor, Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika (BMC) has now formed a committee to crack down on bogus doctors. According to an RTI filled by activist Amarjit Chauhan, 26 bogus doctors were nabbed in 2010-11. These 26 were arrested but later released on bail. Today, they are practicing again in the city. According to Maharashtra Medical Practice Act, if a person is caught twice practicing illegally, he could be penalized heavily. Due to sheer negligence from the BMC, these doctors are openly flourishing their business.
