Gandhinagar: In an attempt to cap drug prices in Gujarat, state’s Food and Drug Control Administration has joined hands with Centre. Central government has formed a 7 members team which will inspect drug prices in the state. These 7 members will operate through state’s Food and Drug Control Administration office. The FDCA, Gujarat has filled 1235 cases in last 5 years, collecting over Rs 4.5cr penalty. There has been an increase of 1,000% in cases in last 5 years which is expected to increase after the initiative. Despite hefty fines, state government has failed to curb over-pricing of drugs.
